| Hyun-Oh Yoo
Hyun-Oh Yoo, Ph.D., is a CEO of SK Communications based in Korea. Yoo started his career in the marketing division of SK Co. in 1983 and then joined the office of chairman for management planning of the SK Group in 1990, involved in preparation for SKs advance into the telecommunication business. After the successful establishment of SK Telecom, he studied in the U.S. to broaden his knowledge of telecommunications and media; he was awarded M.A and Ph.D. degrees during his stay. Returning to SK Telecom in 1999, Yoo worked as a director in charge of corporate strategy until his promotion to a managing director of the Internet Strategy division in 2001. In the Internet Strategy division, he created wired and wireless integrated portal called "Nate" for SK Telecom, demonstrating his ability to having insight into future-oriented business development, especially in the communications area. Becoming a managing director of the Corporate Strategy division in 2003, he played significant role in a merger of Cyworld, a major event for SK Communications that helped the company to surmount harsh competition in the internet market and become an industry leader in a relatively short period of time. Yoo holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, and a master's degree in communications, technology and policy from the University of Texas at Austin, and a doctoral degree in telecommunication, information studies and media from Michigan State University.
